Stories beyond
the familiar shelf.
We explore libraries, historical newspapers, archives and digital collections to locate work that has fallen out of view.
Independent publishing · Brisbane, Australia
We seek out overlooked voices and forgotten works, bringing archival curiosity and careful editorial judgement to the stories that deserve to be heard.
Our purpose
Literature carries more than a story. It holds the language, imagination and experience of the people who made it. Too much of that record remains scattered, difficult to find, or absent from the shelves.
Vox Liberata is an independent publishing house interested in works of literary merit, scholarly value and cultural significance. We connect the care of archival research with the possibilities of contemporary publishing.
About the publishing houseWhere our attention goes
We explore libraries, historical newspapers, archives and digital collections to locate work that has fallen out of view.
We trace sources, compare available editions and establish a reliable text, with care for the people and histories it represents.
Editorial and rights review guide what can move forward, and whether print, audio or digital publication best serves the work.
Editorial interests
Australian literary histories, marginalised perspectives, and the imaginative worlds of gothic and supernatural writing.
Our search is guided by literary quality, cultural significance and the opportunity to recover a voice or perspective that is too easily missed. Queer histories and underrepresented experiences form part of that interest.
Discovery is the beginning of a conversation, not a promise of publication. Every work requires evidence, context, rights review and a human editorial decision.
